Anything Goes Friday 9-30-2011 CFA Guild Oct. Promotion

I thought for today I would do another post about the participating members of the Crafting For Animals Guild on Artfire and the October promotion for Close To Home Animal Rescue. I've done two other features of some of the other members participating and they can be found on my posts on 9-23-2011 and on 9-12-2011. Click on the shop name to be taken to the shop's homepage and click on the image to be taken to the webpage featuring that item.

If I Won the Lottery Thursday 9-29-2011 Metal Work

I've had metal working on the brain a lot lately. It could be from the magazines I've been reading, the galleries of jewelry I've seen, the daily emails I get from jewelry making sites, or the online window shopping for jewelry that I do at Artfire. So, I thought, what else would be good for "If I Won The Lottery Thursday" than tools of the trade.

I have a few items, a vise, a metal block, some basic alphabet stamps, a few hammers, etc. But there are some things that I really, really want if only I had the extra money. And a few because you can never have too many.

The first is a good workbench for hammering and pounding away at metal. This is a very nice one from American Workbench called "The Common Man."

Next, there are a bunch of different hammers I would like to add to my collection. Much like office supplies in general, and pens in particular, you can never have too many tools. These two are from Fusion Beads.

Then of course I will need a disc cutter …

Unpacked this Unfinished Object (U.F.O.) while fixing up the studio... smiley face stepping stone mosaic.

W.I.P. Tuesday 9-27-2011 Studio is Almost Done!

Well, here are pictures of my studio that were taken today. The painting is finished... everything needed 2 coats! Thanks to my husband for painting the ceiling for me - that was a lifesaver as he was able to do most of it without a ladder. Most of the furniture is now where I want it to be, but I still need to put all of the books and magazines back into the shelves (but first I want to apply some poly to them... will be a two-tone finish... some in walnut some natural) and move the small, ugly bookshelf to another location. Across from the books will be my sewing area. I have 4 sewing machines (one that I use, one that I don't know if it works and 2 that are antiques and I don't use at all) and a table for laying out sewing projects. I hope to do more sewing this year. My beading station is my favorite area along with my little cutting station and big table. I can't wait to get going on projects!

This is the view as you walk in.... books to the right sewing machines to th…

Eye Candy Monday 9-26-2011 Johnny Depp

No need to thank me :-) Just click on the pictures to go to the website for the free wallpaper downloads. The hardest part of your visit to my blog today will be choosing your favorite image of Johnny!

Anything Goes Friday 9-23-2011

Today I want to share with you a few more of the Crafting for Animals ArtFire Guild members who are participating in the October Promotion and are accepting the coupon for a 10% donation to the Close To Home Animal Rescue. As with my "Eye Candy Monday" post from 9-12-2011, click on the picture to go to that particular item or click on the shop name to go to their storefront. The hardest thing about doing posts like this is just picking one item from each shop! They all have so much to offer.

CreativeCritters is a shop that I have been a fan of for quite some time.  Her shop features some really great polymer clay sculptures, stuffed animals, plush WoW characters, jewelry, magnets, and catnip toys. Please stop by and take a look at all of her wonderful sculptures, I think you will be amazed with what can be made with polymer clay.

JewelryByScotti is a wonderful shop on ArtFire that features one of a kind jewelry for many different occasions including necklaces, earrings, and b…

If I Won The Lottery Thursday 9-22-2011

Having to photograph my beaded creations and then think of the words for listing them, not to mention the tedious stuff like measuring them for my ArtFire listings drives me crazy. I hope to some day be a good photographer when it comes to stuff like jewelry and handmade keepsakes, but so far, that is just slow going. It took 3 photo sessions to get the pictures below, not to mention the time editing.

So, for this week's "If I Won The Lottery Thursday" I would hire a photographer/secretary to do my listings for me and take the photographs and just manage things so that I can continue with the fun stuff. I would be helping first myself and then I would be helping a starving artist or student in the local university studying photography and/or art.

I would keep doing my blog myself... somewhere, somehow I lost my writing ability and joy. I really used to enjoy writing. Especially letters. My mom saved all of the letters she has from me and I can't believe what I wrote a…

WIP Tuesday 9-20-2011 My Studio

I have decided to post pictures of my studio so that I will be inspired to get it done... it works for most of my WIP projects, so that means it should work for this, right? I painted it last year a nice granny smith apple color. I love that color. It was the color of my kitchen in Jacksonville, FL. I decided to do my kitchen here in a butter yellow color and move the granny smith apple color upstairs. So, like I said, I painted the walls last year when we moved in while waiting for furniture. I had to do two coats of primer and two coats of the paint. The previous color was a forest green. I loved the room before and now I absolutely love it!
The room has been a storage room for the last several months... holding my craft supplies and my husband kept using it as a staging ground for what needed to go into the attic as the door to the attic is in my room. Anyway, I've warned him today that that needs to stop. Final Warning!
Today I started painting the moldings, doors, and ceil…
